Avec « Le Temps des Grenadines », Dan Aucante nous invite à découvrir un travail au long cours, mené depuis 2004 avec la complicité de ses deux fils.
Tout au long de ces années - et ce travail se poursuit encore actuellement - le photographe a tenté de capter l’essence de l’enfance, en observateur attentif de ses garçons, mais aussi en effectuant un retour sur sa propre enfance. Il délivre ici une vision hors du temps, dans une unité de lieu qui reste indéfini, rendue tangible et touchante notamment par les très délicats tirages argentiques qu’il a lui même réalisés.
Dans son appréhension de l’enfance, Dan Aucante s’est plus particulièrement attaché à ses signes, symboles et secrets. L’incarnation physique de ses fils se fait au début discrète puis s’affirme progressivement. S’y mêlent des réminiscences de ses propres jeunes années, comme les échos des jeux et rites qu’il saisit de ses garçons dans le viseur de son appareil.
