En tant qu’artiste et sociologue Irène Jonas a mené à bien en 2021 une première création dans le Perche pour Le Champ des Impossibles, "Mémoires de campagne", en associant des entretiens à un corpus photographique.
Avec son travail "Rosa Bonheur... Réminiscences", elle va encore plus loin en écrivant des lettres intimes à son alter ego du siècle dernier. Ces lettres sises dans une sorte d’intemporalité abordent différents sujets de la vie de l’artiste en comparant l’évolution des mœurs et le statut de la femme d’une époque à l’autre. Rosa Bonheur trouva les principaux sujets de son inspiration dans le parc de son château qu’elle avait transformé en ménagerie. A sa suite, Irène Jonas s’en est inspirée en (re)photographiant décors, tableaux animaliers et objets d’archives. Les images en noir et blanc qu’elle a tiré ont été repeintes à l’huile dans une gamme chaude, aux nuances sombres d’où jaillissent des apparitions spectrales. La part dite narrative, la subjectivité s’imposent par le cadrage, le grain accentué des noirs et la luminosité des blancs, ou par la peinture livrant une œuvre au romantisme profond.
